Because of its wealth of outstanding high school jazz programs, the Pacific Northwest has long been the starting point for some of the brightest instrumentalists and vocalists breaking into the scene today. Among these rising stars are Riley Mulherkar and Andy Clausen. Both graduated from local jazz programs-Garfield and Roosevelt respectively-and both are currently attending the Juilliard School of Music in New York City.
