"Ray Turner: Population "

Ray Turner's "Population" celebrates a cross-section of our community through the art of portraiture. Based on photographs taken during a visit to Bellingham last year as well as portraits of people living in other host cities, this exhibition changes from museum to museum. It reflects the complexity and changing nature of "place." "Population" will grow as more portraits are added and museums join the tour of this exhibition.
A California artist who exhibits internationally, Turner has revitalized… Show more the art of portraiture, which was once reserved for society’s elite. His evocative portraits also celebrate elements of abstraction ─ color, value, and composition. From the 12 x 12-inch paintings on glass to the large-scaled installation of them in the gallery, the artist’s work helps us to see art and our community in new ways. Shows June 16-Sept. 9.
