I almost did not go to this place due to some very bad reveiws (especially some on Yelp). Boy, am I glad I (usually) ignore reviews!! I figure it this way: most people who are perfectly happy with a place never bother to write about it. If, however, you've had a bad experience and you are angry... well you just want to shout it to the world.
I went there for lunch, and returned for dinner and music
First up: Service. Although the place was very busy, my server was fast, courteous, and even gave me a heads up about the evening's entertainment. It was a brass band called Rat City.... terrific!!
Food: My wife does the gluten free thing, so she was very happy to find several varied and tempting choices on the menu. I ordered a pizza. It was a thin crust pepperoni. Very very good! For dinner that evening I joined my wife in an Island Beet Salad. WOW! BTW: The menu states the vast majority of their ingredients are fresh and local... I beleive it! Prices seemed reasonable for the quality... not low, but not high either.
Beer: My wife and I are both beer lovers. They have over 25 beers on tap! I know my beers, and I can say for sure there were at least three I have NEVER seen on tap before. So many beers, so little time! Prices for the beer was very reasonable!
Music: As I mentioned before, the Rat City Brass Band was playing that night. They play a lot of Tiajuana Brass/Herb Alpert, Al Hirt stuff. You older folks know who I'm talking about!
Conclusion: This place was wonderful! We will definately make it a focal point on our return to San Juan Island. I just hope that will be sooner rather than later.
