book of the bound: mixed media collages by Carletta Carrington Wilson

Thursday, Dec 20, 2012 11:00a

Local artist and writer, Carletta Carrington Wilson’s mixed-media collage layers text, textile and symbols to honor the unheard voices of the enslaved.
Wilson’s work explores the silence of slavery and the power of cloth to reveal what was concealed. With her use of found text, fabric and other materials, Wilson’s altered books tell stories that have been absent from history.
