Science Fiction and Fantasy Book Exchange

March 2, 2013 10 am-1 pm. Phinney Center, Room 3. FREE.

In addition to our Mystery Book Exchange on February 9 (see above), this spring we will be expanding to a whole new universe of fiction! For over 15 years, mystery book fans have been meeting twice a year at the PNA to swap their gently used and previously read mystery titles for something new to read. "We have a great time," says one book swapper, "We prowl the tables for our favorite authors, talk about what we have read, and recommend books… Show more to each other. It's a bit like a library that's open twice a year and a bit like a book fan club."

A friend of the PNA has passed away, and his family has donated his 1000-volume Science Fiction and Fantasy collection to start a new genre of book swap. "It is the best way we could imagine for lots of people to get to enjoy this fabulous collection and to continue Ted's legacy of sharing and recommending interesting books and ideas," says his daughter-in-law. Our seed library contains a lot of the greats from the 1950's to the present, so even the first swappers to arrive will have plenty to choose from. Whatever you bring to swap will make the exchange richer and even more diverse.

Much like our other book swaps; you can trade in your gently used books for something new to read. Receive one ticket for each paperback and two per hardback and then use the tickets to purchase other books. If you don't have books to exchange, you can buy paperbacks for $1.00 and hardbacks for $2.00.

Since this is a new event, we are especially seeking volunteers to help organize the swap, spread the word, and help run things on the day of the event. As Mystery Book Exchange volunteers well know, there are special perks for working this event!
