Happens To Be Black

NWComedyNetwork.com presents "Happens To Be Black An evening of comedy and poetry" at the Jewelbox Theater at The Rendezvous,Thursday, February 28th at 8pm. The title of the show is inspired by a George Carlin routine in which he dissects the way people attempt to describe people of color. Many African Americans have had the experience of being told that "they don't seem black" or "they are acting white," because they behave in a way that many people don't expect based on the color of their skin.… Show more The prejudice hasn't just come from white America but often from within their own community. Unwritten rules and cultural norms have ostracized many Black Americans. This show will present some of the Northwest's best comics and poets who share their life experiences in funny and insightful ways, and they all just happen to be black. Featured performers will be Manny Martin (comic), Danielle Radford (comic), Amos Mack (comic), Monique Franklin (Spoken Word), David Bennett (Poet) and hosted by Silas Lindenstein (comic).
