Scottish Highland & Irish Step Dance Classes

Scottish Highland & Irish Step Dance Classes

Country/Folk Dancing, Irish/Celtic, Children, Class/Workshop, Classes/Clinics, Country/Folk Dancing, Education, Ethnic, World Dance
The Clan Heather Dancers offer year-round Scottish Highland and Irish step dance classes in Bellingham, Mount Vernon and Everett. Students of all ages study the traditional dance forms of the British Isles including competitive, performance and/or recreational dance. Director Heather Richendrfer organizes Highland dance competitions including the Skagit Valley Highland Games and two Bellingham events. She judges Highland dance world-wide and her school is known for competitive excellence. The performance team is featured at events throughout the Pacific Northwest. They are known for their athletic and energetic shows where toe-tapping rhythms and beautiful costumes are showcased. Some dancers are involved purely for recreational purposes. The intricate patterns and formations of steps are fun to learn. Scottish Highland dances include the traditional sword dance and Highland fling, national dances of Scotland and jigs and hornpipes. Irish step dance includes both soft and hard shoe dance forms. Classes begin mid-afternoon and continue through the evening.
