Thor Myhre and T. Michael Gardiner

Thor Myhre and T. Michael Gardiner

Art Show, Gallery, Sculpture, Painting, Drawings/Works on Paper, Mixed Media
Thor Mhyre's "Cultivating Figures" sculpture series and T. Michael Gardiner "Low - level Trapezoids" painting series will be at i.e. in Edison from 3/31 to 4/30. Thor Myhre grew up on a scenic Montana farm and learned as a youngster that repurposing old machinery on hand could save an hour driving to the parts store. Now a well know Bellingham artist, his sculptures grace many landscapes both public and private. They are a tribute to the farming life he came from and to a personal recycle aesthetic where he says he can find the soul in a piece of cast off metal and help give it a new life. His metal sculpture, in all sizes, has a seamless elegance to the lines and a humor in its depiction of family life and politics. Myhre’s career has also focused on teaching, workshops, and community events that are inspired by creative reuse. His work is featured in documentaries, numerous public and private collections, and has received multiple awards for advocating education, and art. T. Michael Gardiner is a long time Seattle based artist who has a colorful and energetic style of narrative painting - an illustrator for the New Yorker during the 90's his political insight and humor are integral to his art. Gardiner also makes painterly references to Matisse and Greek Mythology in this series."Low - Level Trapezoids"
